According to the latest information, Apple is not currently planning to announce any integration with Gemini at this event.
Although there were many previous reports that Apple was negotiating to make Gemini an alternative to ChatGPT in the Apple Intelligence system, Gurman confirmed that the deal would not be announced in his opening speech at the 2025 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on Monday. There will not even be any Gemini-related announcements throughout the event.
Mr. Sundar Pichai - CEO of Alphabet recently hinted at an impending deal with Apple, however, according to Gurman, at least for now, ChatGPT is still the only major language model (LLM) officially integrated into Apple's AI features.
At this year's WWDC, Apple is expected to announce the opening of an internal AI model platform for third-party developers, while expanding Apple Intelligence's capabilities to areas such as system-wide translation and smarter automation through the Shortcuts application.
However, the AI-powered multi-model strategy where users can choose between many AIs like ChatGPT or Gemini, will likely have to wait until the end of the year.
