Apple may launch a home security system and service in 2027. The company is said to be developing a security camera that focuses on privacy, using artificial intelligence (AI) to monitor the surrounding environment instead of relying directly on video images.
This camera is expected to work with Apple's new surveillance and home protection service. However, there is currently no further information about the operation or cost of the service.
Previously, many sources said that Apple is developing a home hub, expected to be launched before the end of this year. A wireless camera integrated with Siri and capable of directly connecting to this device has also been rumored for a long time.
Currently, Apple has provided HomeKit Secure Video, a feature for third-party cameras compatible with the company's smart home ecosystem. The service uses end-to-end encryption, while exploiting iCloud to transmit and store videos safely.
On iOS 27, Apple continues to upgrade the capabilities of the HomeKit camera. The Home app can create a text summary for motion warnings, select notable moments and group images from multiple cameras.
These new features require an iCloud+ package of 2 TB or more, while HomeKit Secure Video requires a minimum package of 50 GB.
Therefore, the home security service that Apple is developing is likely to be integrated with existing iCloud+ and HomeKit Secure Video, thereby expanding the company's smart home ecosystem from device management to security monitoring.
