Use the "Find My" feature of the operating system
Most smartphones today have remote device locating features. For iPhone, you can access iCloud.com and select Find iPhone, then select Play Sound. For Android, go to Android.com Android/find, log in to your Google account, and then select patch to audio.
The phone will still ring even though it is in silent mode.
Remote positioning features are increasingly improved to support users in case of device loss, even when the sound is turned off, said James Lowell, a mobile security expert at the SANS Institute.
Call with a virtual assistant or smart device
If you are near devices like Google Nest, Amazon Alexa or Apple HomePod, try giving an order:
"Hey Google, find my phone"
"Alexa, call my phone"
"Hey Siri, where's my iPhone?"
The device will activate the search sound on the phone, even when leaving the vibration mode or silent, as long as the device is still connected to the network.
Using a smart wearable device
If you have a smartwatch like an Apple Watch, Galaxy Watch or Fitbit devices connected to your phone, you can use the Ping phone button to help your device play the sound to support the search.
In case there is no internet?
If your phone does not have a connection, you can try the classical way: make an appointment and call the phone. Your eyes can detect light from screens or notification lights. Also, check for places that are easy to forget, such as shirt bags, under pillows, trunk or handbags.
