Google is deploying a notable upgrade for the Chrome browser on Android devices with large screens such as tablets and foldable phones.
This change brings the bookmark bar, a long-standing feature on the Chrome version for computers.
For many years, Chrome has remained the most popular browser on Android. However, the mobile version of this application often lacks some convenience features compared to the computer version.
The bookmark bar is one of the typical examples when Android users previously had to access the bookmark list through many steps.
According to a report by technology site 9to5Google (specializing in reporting on Google and the company's ecosystem), Google has now started bringing the bookmark bar to Chrome for Android on large screen devices.
This feature helps users quickly access saved websites with just one touch.
In terms of interface, the bookmark bar on Android works almost like the desktop version. This bar will appear right below the address bar and extend along the screen width.
Saved websites will appear as icons on the left side. Users can also open bookmark folders by tapping the corresponding folder name.
If the number of bookmarks exceeds the display space, a arrow will appear on the right side of the toolbar for users to view more saved websites.
Holding down a bookmark will also fully display the address of that website.
To activate this feature, users just need to open "Settings" in Chrome, select "Interface" and turn on the "Display bookmarks bar" option.
According to Google, the new feature is being deployed for Chrome version 146 on Android. In case you do not see this option, users can update the application to the latest version and perform the "Force Chrome to stop" operation in the application information section to activate it.
However, Google notes that the bookmark bar may not appear on devices with narrow screens like regular smartphones.
