Accordingly, Chrome users on desktop computers in these areas will be able to use Gemini through the sidebar of the browser. This feature allows asking questions about the content displayed on the screen, summarizing information, comparing content between multiple tabs and accessing data from services such as Gmail, Keep, Drive or YouTube.
In this expansion, Gemini is also supplemented with more languages including: Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Telugu and Tamil. These languages are supported in addition to English and other languages that Chrome has recently added.
Google first introduced Gemini on Chrome in the US in September 2025 as a floating window. By the beginning of this year, the company continued to upgrade this tool with a sidebar interface, helping users interact with chatbots more conveniently.
When granted access, users will see the "Ask Gemini" icon on the tab bar. From here, they can ask questions, request summaries of the website content or create small quizzes to better understand a topic. Gemini can also work on multiple tabs at the same time, allowing users to compare information between different pages, such as when looking to buy products or choosing tickets for a trip.
This AI assistant also has the ability to connect to many Google services to provide personalized answers. Gemini can access data from Gmail, Maps, Calendar, YouTube and other applications to provide contextual information.
Users can compose emails directly in the sidebar of Chrome and send them without leaving the open page. Gemini can also summarize YouTube videos, list key points with timelines, or support scheduling meetings and summarizing daily tasks.
In addition, users can also use Google's Nano Banana 2 image creation tool right in Gemini on Chrome. This tool allows editing or modifying images.
Google said that in addition to the desktop version, the company is also deploying Gemini support on Chrome for iOS in India. When available, this feature will appear on the address bar through the page tool icon.
Previously, Google introduced advanced automation support capabilities for users of AI Pro and AI Ultra packages in the US, allowing AI assistants to perform some tasks on the browser on behalf of users. However, this function has not been included in the new deployment for users in India, New Zealand and Canada.
