On September 24, within the framework of his visit and work in the Russian Federation, Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat and the delegation of the Ministry of Science and Technology worked with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. The meeting aimed to exchange, discuss and agree on measures to implement the agreements reached in the Joint Statement on deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership on the basis of 30 years of implementing the Treaty on the basic principles of Vietnam-Russia friendship, which was approved during the State visit to Vietnam by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin in June 2024.
At the meeting, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation V.I. Falkov affirmed that the cooperation relationship between Vietnam and the Russian Federation in science and technology has been raised to a strategic level since the two countries signed the Strategic Partnership Agreement on Education and Science and Technology in 2014.
According to Minister V.I. Falkov, Vietnam and the Russian Federation have a traditional friendship, along with the development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Russian Federation, cooperation between the two countries in the field of science, technology and innovation is increasingly developing in both breadth and depth. The two sides also agreed on many specific measures to further promote bilateral cooperation in many fields, including science, technology and education.
Minister Huynh Thanh Dat emphasized that, along with the development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Russian Federation, cooperation between the two countries in the field of science, technology and innovation is increasingly developing in both breadth and depth. In November 2014, the two governments signed an agreement on strategic partnership in the fields of education and science and technology, marking an important milestone in the cooperation in science and technology between the two countries. To date, the two countries have made significant progress in strengthening and developing mutually beneficial cooperation in education, training and science, technology and innovation.
Also at the meeting, Minister Huynh Thanh Dat proposed a number of cooperation orientations and contents, including organizing annual meetings of the Vietnam - Russian Federation Cooperation Committee on Education and Science and Technology; organizing annual selection of joint research cooperation tasks; strengthening cooperation in basic research, application-oriented basic research in the fields of Natural Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities, especially in the fields of Marine Sciences and basic sciences.
Strengthening the exchange, cooperation and transfer of new technologies suitable to Vietnam's conditions in the areas of strength of the Russian Federation such as materials technology, new energy, environmentally friendly energy and resource saving, information and communication technology, nanotechnology, automation and machine manufacturing, artificial intelligence technology; increasing the exchange of delegations to participate in major science, technology and innovation events held in the two countries.
