On October 17 in Ho Chi Minh City, a workshop was held on the board of management of broadcasting and television services between the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and broadcasting and television service providers in 2025.
Sharing at the event, a representative of the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information (DONRE - Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) highlighted some notable figures about the pay TV industry in Vietnam.
Accordingly, by the end of 2024, pay TV reached 21.4 million subscribers, including traditional pay TV (more than 12 million subscribers) and OTT TV (9.2 million subscribers). Pay TV service rental in the whole market increased slightly by 2% compared to 2023. In 2025, pay TV subscribers in Vietnam are expected to reach 22.5 million, an increase of 5% compared to 2024.
In terms of revenue, in 2025, the pay TV industry is expected to reach VND 10,300 billion, up 2.8% compared to 2024. Of these, traditional pay TV revenue is expected to reach VND8,000 billion, more than 3 times higher than OTT TV pay TV.

In a general assessment of the broadcasting and promotion services, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that the units have met the information and propaganda needs of the Party and State. In the past, these units have been operating stably, but in the coming time, revenue will be reduced.
With pay TV and radio services in Vietnam, experts said that they have met market demand and developed according to the general trend of the region. Also according to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the trend of developing pay TV and radio and television services is OTT TV services. Vietnam has all the favorable conditions for both policies and infrastructure to develop OTT TV services.
Within the framework of the event, a seminar was held with the theme " Internet Radio and Television Service Market in Vietnam - Opportunities and Challenges", with the participation of the Department of Radio and Television and the leaders of a number of businesses providing pay TV services in Vietnam.
