Notably, Android's talkBack screen reader now allows users to ask the Gemini AI assistant questions about the content in the image and on the entire phone screen.
Previously, Google integrated Gemini into talkback to help blind or vision-poor people get AI-generated images. Now, users can not only receive the description but also ask detailed questions.
For example, if you receive a photo of a guitar from a friend, you can ask about its brand, color or specific characteristics. Similarly, when shopping on the app, users can ask about the quality of the product or the promotional program being applied.
On Chrome browser, Google is automatically activating the optical character recognition (OCR) feature, making it easy for users to access scanned PDF files. Previously, users could not use a screen reader to interact with this PDF, but now, they can make it light, copy, search for text, and listen to content through a screen reader like with any other website.
Finally, page Zoom on Chrome for Android has also been improved. Users can customize the exaggeration without breaking the website layout, and choose to apply this setting to all websites or only certain pages.
The above improvements show Google's commitment to applying AI to improve technology access for all users.
