According to TechCrunch, when asking questions like "Is it 2025? ", "What year is this?" or "Give me the current year", the answers all have the content of 2024. On social networks, many people also posted screenshots of similar experiences.
After receiving the feedback, Google started fixing the error on May 30. Currently, users will receive a response in 2025, but with the words "AI's answers may make mistakes".

When asked why AI Overviews responded incorrectly, the company declined to mention it and only informed that it was developing an update to avoid similar incidents, according to TechCrunch.
"Like all the features inside Google Search, we are constantly improving significantly. Incidents are an opportunity to update the system. Most of the results from AI Overviews still provide useful and practical information".
Previously, the tool was also found to answer questions incorrectly, such as "how much ice should you eat per day?" or advise "use glue to stick cheese to pizza"... Google then admitted that in some cases, AI Overviews misunderstand the problem, most commonly misunderstanding queries, the shades of language on the web or the database that does not have much useful information.
Recently, Google has continuously upgraded AI Overviews with the latest Gemini model. At the end of April 2025, Google CEO Sundar Pichai said that the feature currently has 1.5 billion users in more than 100 countries, the most in the US and India.
