Huawei Watch D2 features a new generation of wrist-based Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM), capable of accurate 24-hour blood pressure measurement and powered by the all-new Huawei TruSense system for faster and more accurate results.
ABPM is also considered the gold standard for monitoring symptoms and treating hypertension. Huawei worked closely with leading experts around the world, in addition to a decade of research and development on blood pressure measurement technology and three years of technology optimization, before introducing it for the first time in its smartwatch product line.
In terms of operating mechanism, the watch uses an airbag to inflate and measure blood pressure at intervals with reminders during the day and sleep measurement at night.
The watch supports measurements in a variety of situations, including standing, sitting or semi-reclining during the day, as well as automatic measurements at night.
In single blood pressure measurements, combined with scientific sleep monitoring technology, Huawei Watch D2 can remind users to measure blood pressure as soon as they wake up in the morning.
The watch also supports scheduled measurement reminders, helping users set up and adhere to a daily blood pressure measurement plan to capture peak blood pressure values in a timely manner.
In ABPM mode, whether asleep or awake, users can choose to measure blood pressure every 15, 20, 30, 45 or 60 minutes, with the default interval being 30 minutes. With the accompanying app, users can access weekly blood pressure management reports.
These reports not only provide recommendations for health monitoring goals, but also summarize changes in users' blood pressure levels, completion status of various monitoring goals, helping users evaluate the effectiveness of blood pressure control.
In addition, Huawei's smartwatch can also measure electrocardiogram, SpO2, heart rate, analyze arrhythmia, stress level and skin temperature, providing comprehensive health management right on the wrist, helping to identify health risks.
The product supports more than 80 exercise modes, tracks daily exercise goals, diet, sleep, weight, stress, helping users develop healthy living habits.
According to Tech Radar, the Huawei Watch D2 has a beautiful design, smart strap and accurate blood pressure measurement. However, it also has disadvantages such as a thick watch body, lack of modern features and a high price.
The Huawei Watch D2 doesn't have contactless payments, can't stream music via Spotify or Amazon Music, or even listen to audio messages on WhatsApp.
At $400, the Huawei Watch D2 looks like a medical device. The fact that it is certified by the EU Medical Devices Agency and the China National Medical Products Administration shows that it is a global product with recognized quality.
But with a fairly high price and lacking some features, the Huawei Watch D2 will face many challenges to compete with products in the same segment.
