On the Messages app of iOS 27, users will see a new Drawing option in the toolbar. This feature can be opened by tapping the + icon in the bottom left corner of the screen.
In older iOS versions, Messages used to have a very simple drawing tool, which only appeared when rotating the device horizontally and pressing the button on the keyboard. With iOS 27, Apple integrated a full set of tools, allowing users to draw, take notes and mark content right in the application.
Meanwhile, on Macs, macOS 27 adds a drawing toolkit to the two applications Notes and Freeform, helping users easily sketch, annotate and edit content without switching to another application.
Currently iOS 27 and macOS 27 Golden Gate have been released as developer betas.
Apple is expected to officially release these two updates to users in September.
Expanding the drawing toolkit to many applications shows that Apple is continuing to promote creativity and direct notes on the device, instead of relying on third-party applications.
This is one of many changes aimed at improving the daily user experience, in addition to AI features and interface improvements expected to appear on iOS 27 and macOS 27 when these two operating systems are officially released.
