sellCell is a price comparison website that helps US consumers save maximum costs on phones, tablets, smartwatches and other used or damaged electronic devices.
sellCell recently conducted a survey with 2,000 iPhone users, before the launch of the iPhone 17 series.
Of those planning to upgrade to the iPhone 17 series, 38.1% said they would buy an iPhone 17 Pro or iPhone 17 Pro Max; 16.7% said they would buy an iPhone 17, while the ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air was the phone model chosen by 13.5% of survey participants.

The survey shows that quite a number of iPhone users believe that this smartphone line is gradually losing its advantage over its competitors. 68.9% of surveyed people said that the high price of the iPhone 17 series is the biggest barrier that makes them hesitant to buy a new phone in the upcoming launch.
16% said that Apple's lack of innovation has made them not want to buy the latest version of the iPhone. Meanwhile, 5% of respondents said they are considering switching to Android.
On the other hand, iPhone users also have many reasons to buy the new iPhone 17 model. Accordingly, 36% of people said that the new ultra-thin design, new colors such as lavender/ youth, and the redesigned Dynamic Island interface are attractive to them.
More than 53% of survey respondents were impressed with the larger battery capacity on new models (especially if the iPhone 17 Pro Max has the largest battery in iPhone history)... Upgrades to the camera, AI (artificial intelligence) features ... from Apple are also plus points for iPhone fans.
However, the survey also gives Apple a worrying figure, with more than 30% of current iPhone users intending to switch to Samsung or Pixel phones. If Apple does not launch a foldable iPhone until 2026, as expected, 20.1% will consider switching to the Galaxy Z Fold or Flip. Another 10.2% will switch to the Pixel folding screen model.
Notably, 49% of the 2,000 iPhone users surveyed said that Android smartphones have nothing to appeal to them about.
However, 51% said that Android smartphones are becoming more attractive thanks to factors such as AI (13%), more affordable prices (11%), better cameras (11%), and foldable smartphones (9%).
