No longer learning, Google's AI is trying to help students think more critically

Google is incorporating artificial intelligence into the learning process, helping students learn smarter with interactive and personalized tools such as Gemini, NotebookLM and Search.

Each page of the play is full of words and the drills may soon become a thing of the past. With the support of artificial intelligence (AI), Google is turning learning into an exploration journey, where students understand more deeply, interact more and are taught in their own way.

According to Google, more than 2 million Indian students have now accessed Google AI Pro, which allows them to use advanced AI tools such as Gemini, NotebookLM and Google Search for free for a year.

These tools not only provide answers, but also help learners think, criticize and learn with guidance, based on science on how humans absorb knowledge.

Gemini: Learning with guidance, preparing for exams smarter

Instead of just asking and answering, Gemini helps students divide problems, suggest opposite questions and point out many different ways of thinking.

For example, when faced with difficult physical exercises, Gemini does not give an answer immediately but will ask again: "What if we change this assumption?", this helps students understand the nature of the problem.

In addition, the Smart Prep Tools tool allows creating personal memory cards, tests and learning instructions from students' notes, photos or text.

With Gemini Live, learners can use their voice and camera to ask about exercises or diagrams and receive instant audio instructions.

NotebookLM: Turning notes into life knowledge

If you are overwhelmed by dozens of pages of research documents, NotebookLM will help create an audio or video summary in easy-to-understand language, even in local language.

Students can build an intuitive thinking diagram, create a set of questions and memory cards from the downloaded document, or request a complete learning resource preparation tool from the lecture slide.

Google Search: Search by image and voice

The Google Lens tool in AI mode allows students to take photos of diagrams, problems or chemical structures, then ask questions about the content in the photos.

In addition, with Live Search, users can use cameras and voice to ask questions, receive explanations or suggestions for learning immediately.

These AI learning tools make learning more engaging, intuitive, and multi-sensory, from text, audio to images. However, Google also emphasizes: AI cannot replace human discipline, motivation and emotions in the learning journey.
