After the regulation on subscriber authentication according to Circular 08/2026 takes effect, users need to update and compare information as required. If not implemented or delayed, many consequences may arise during service use.
Risk of communication interruption
According to the implementation roadmap, subscribers who have not completed authentication may be temporarily suspended from one-way service, then two-way service if not supplemented in time. This means that users may have their communication interrupted during use.
Risk of phone number revocation
If authentication is not completed according to regulations, the subscriber may be recalled after the service is stopped according to the roadmap. Losing a phone number can greatly affect those who use the number for work or associated with personal services for a long time.
Information security risks
The fact that subscriber information does not match the owner's official data may create loopholes for phone numbers to be used for unwanted purposes. Verifying information is considered a step to enhance user protection.
Risks related to fraud
When the phone number is not fully verified, tracking and handling telecom fraud becomes more difficult. This is also one of the reasons why spam calls, spam messages and scams are increasing.
Impact on banking services and digital services
Many services such as banking, e-wallets or online public services are associated with phone numbers. If the subscriber is interrupted or not verified, users may have difficulty making transactions or using digital platforms.
Risks with non-genuine SIMs or repurchases
For SIMs that are not in the original owner's name, unverification may cause difficulties when needing to prove usage rights. In case of disputes or requests for information updates, actual users may encounter obstacles.
According to the 2023 Telecommunications Law, subscribers are responsible for the registered phone number. This means that using non-genuine SIMs poses legal risks if problems occur.
Proactive authentication to limit risks
Network operators recommend that users proactively check their subscriber status through VNeID or the network operator's application.
Early verification helps ensure smooth communication, while minimizing risks arising during the use of telecommunications services.
