Recognizing this threat, VNetwork organized an online workshop, with the participation of more than 200 speakers who are cybersecurity experts, information technology managers and businesses interested in information security, especially security in email systems.
The online workshop provided a comprehensive look at the threats from fake emails and how to protect the system against increasingly sophisticated risks.
According to a report from the National Cyber Security Association, up to 46.15% of agencies and businesses said they have been victims of at least one cyber attack in the past year.
Of which, 6.77% of organizations regularly face attacks. The total number of cyber attacks in 2024 is estimated at more than 659,000 cases. In particular, according to information from the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention (A05), Ministry of Public Security, key units have received more than 74,000 cyber attack warnings, including up to 83 targeted APT attack campaigns.
For email attacks alone, the workshop experts pointed out 4 main forms. Of which, email fraud accounts for 73% of the number of attacks on businesses' emails in Vietnam in recent times. This is a method of hackers impersonating emails from reputable organizations such as banks, service providers or business partners to deceive victims into providing login information or downloading malware. Just by an employee accidentally entering a password into a fake website, the blogger can take control of the entire system.
Other scams are BEC ( Business Email Compromise) - Forgery of leadership. Accordingly, hackers impersonate financial directors, CEOs or important partners and send emails asking employees to conduct financial transactions; attack with malware, ransomware and targeted attacks with extended campaigns.
Through these attacks, hackers have exploited vulnerabilities to steal data, commit financial fraud, and target large companies, especially in the financial and banking sectors.

Mr. Philip Hung Cao, a cybersecurity strategist, emphasized: Email is not only a communication channel, but also a gateway for hackers to break in. Businesses cannot wait until they are attacked to find a protective solution.
Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Kim Tho, Head of Security Research and Development at VNetwork, also shared: Imail security is not just a layer of protection, but needs to be a long-term strategy to protect businesses digital assets.
Through the workshop, businesses have clearly understood the types of email attacks, thereby helping them proactively prevent and limit financial and data losses. They also found the necessary security solutions to ward off BEC, one of the most dangerous forms of attack, causing great damage to businesses.
Above all, many Vietnamese businesses also have the opportunity to build a solid email security system, with security steps according to international standards and email security support tools, businesses can reduce risks and ensure the email system is always safe.
