According to Bloomberg, Perplexity has signed a deal with Motorola to integrate its artificial intelligence (AI) into the company's phone, as an alternative to Gemini. If it reaches an agreement with Samsung - the world's leading smartphone manufacturer - it will be a big step forward to help Perplexity increase brand recognition and influence.
However, a significant barrier is the close relationship between Google and Samsung. These two big guys work in many fields such as AI on phones, Wear OS for smartwatches, and the upcoming Android XR platform.
Google Gemini is also behind many outstanding AI features on Samsung devices.
Notably, Bloomberg revealed that Samsung has had an investment relationship with Perplexity since last year. Both sides have not yet confirmed the deal publicly. But if it becomes a reality, Perplexity appearing on Samsung phones will give users more powerful AI options - a tool that is highly appreciated for its ability to understand users' intentions, respond quickly and handle tasks as well as Gemini.
