Samsung has just posted a notice stating that the Samsung Messages application will stop operating in the near future and will no longer be available after July this year. The company also recommends users to switch to Google Messages.
Although Galaxy users may lose some familiar Samsung Messages customizations, Google Messages compensates with AI features generated from Gemini, such as editing and rearranging photos right in the conversation. This application also supports seamless switching between phones, tablets and smartwatches.
In fact, this move is not surprising as Samsung has gradually "killed off" its own messaging application in recent years. From the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6 to Galaxy S25 series, the company has stopped pre-installing Samsung Messages and replaced it with Google Messages.
Currently, the Samsung Messages application is still on the Galaxy Store, but the official shutdown time will be announced directly on the application in the near future.
