Currently, only Huawei has launched a tri-fold smartphone with the famous Huawei Mate XT model. The Chinese company is expected to launch the next version of the tri-fold phone in September 2025.
Samsung does not want to be left too far behind in this small segment. Most likely, Samsung's tri-fold smartphone will be called the Galaxy G Fold.
"We are working hard to develop a tri-fold smartphone with the goal of launching it later this year," said Roh Tae-moon, Acting Director of device Experience at Samsung Electronics.
We are currently focusing on perfecting the product and the ability to use it, but have not yet decided on the name. When the product is almost completed, we plan to make a final decision soon.
Samsung has launched the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, both of which have reduced thickness to improve the user's handling experience. The Fold 7 is the next generation of smartphones with a thickness of 8.9 mm when folded and 4.2 mm when unfolded.
Mr. Roh Tae-moon said that the first introduction of foldable screen phones in 2019 was skeptical, but now they have become a major segment.
He emphasized the need for more companies to participate in the foldable phone market, saying that increased competition will promote innovation and eventually benefit both the industry and consumers.
In addition to its ambition to develop products, Samsung also focuses on developing AI (artificial intelligence) into application processors to enhance user experience.
According to Mr. Roh, Samsung believes in an AI philosophy for everyone and will integrate Galaxy AI functions into 400 million Galaxy devices available in the world by the end of this year.
"From the main products to the Galaxy A series, we are expanding Galaxy AI features as long as there are no limitations in hardware. Our vision for Galaxy AI is to bring mobile AI to as many consumers as possible.
Thats why were not limiting the Galaxy AI to new models. We are also integrating it into previously released devices, as long as their hardware parameters allow it, Samsungs leader added.
