According to Korean media, SK Hynix is expected to achieve revenue of 24.5 trillion won and operating profit of 11.3 trillion won in the period from July to September 2025.
This will surpass the company's previous quarter record of 22.2 trillion won in revenue and 9.2 trillion won in operating profit.
This will be the first time SK Hynix has exceeded the 10 trillion won mark in quarterly operating profit since the company was acquired by SK Group in 2012.
In Korea, only Samsung Electronics is a chip manufacturing company that achieves an operating profit of 10,000 billion won or more.
SK Hynix's impressive business results are said to be due to the growing global demand for high-bandwidth memory (HBM) in the context of the explosion of artificial intelligence (AI) and the high price of dynamic random access memory (DRAM) chips.
Lee Se-chul, an analyst at Citi Global Markets, said: "12-layer HBM3E sales, accounting for more than 50 percent of SK hynix's HBM sales, along with a stable price for old memory chips, have boosted the company's Q3 2025 revenue."
According to recent data compiled by technology market monitoring company Counterpoint Research, SK Hynix's sales in the global memory chip market increased by 13% compared to the same period last year, reaching 17.5 billion USD in the third quarter of this year.
SK Hynix is expected to release its Q3 earnings report on October 29.
Previously, in early October 2025, manufacturer ChatGPT signed a memorandum of understanding with Samsung and SK Hynix on the production of DRAM wafer panels for the Stargate AI infrastructure project, and researched the possibility of building more data centers in Korea.
According to the commitment, Samsung and SK Hynix will expand their scale to produce up to 900,000 high-bandwidth DRAM chips (HBM) per month, providing for the Stargate data center system. This figure, according to SK Group, is double the current high-bandwidth memory chip manufacturing capacity of the entire industry.
