The moment of the high-tech boom in Vietnam

Vietnam is gradually affirming its position in the global technology industry, especially in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and semiconductors.

The ability to connect and integrate with the global supply chain

With the participation of many leading technology corporations and strong support policies from the Government, 2025 is expected to be the booming time for the high-tech industry in Vietnam. Not only creating momentum for economic development, this trend also opens up a solid future for the country in the new technology era.

One of the key factors that helps Vietnam attract the attention of technology "big guys" is its ability to deeply connect with the global supply chain. The 2025 International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Semiconductors (AISC) recently held in Hanoi is a clear demonstration. The event gathered experts and senior leaders from corporations such as Google, NVIDIA, IBM, Meta, Intel, TSMC, Samsung... showing that Vietnam is transforming from a manufacturing center to a strategic technology destination in the region.

The global demand for semiconductor chips and AI technology is constantly increasing, opening up strategic opportunities for Vietnam to participate more deeply in this field.Recent proactive steps show that Vietnam is gradually affirming its position, transforming from an industrial nation to an important link in the global semiconductor supply chain

Speaking at the AISC event, Dr. Christopher Nguyen - founder of Aitomatic - said that the efforts of the Vietnamese Government in promoting the development of AI and semiconductors are showing the right direction, in line with the shifting trend of the global technology value chain.

In addition to the AISC event, the commitment of large corporations such as NVIDIA to invest billions of USD in Vietnam shows the real potential of this market. NVIDIA, with a plan to build an AI Research and Development Center and an AI Data Center in Vietnam, is placing its trust in the country's long-term development capabilities. Not only NVIDIA, a series of other corporations such as Qualcomm, LAM Research, Qorvo and AlChip are also actively expanding their investment, contributing to the formation of an increasingly perfect technology ecosystem.

Foreign direct investment (FDI) into Vietnam's semiconductor industry has reached an impressive figure with 174 projects and a total registered capital of nearly 11.6 billion USD. This is a clear demonstration of Vietnam's attractiveness to technology investors. Not only foreign enterprises, domestic corporations such as Viettel and FPT are also actively participating in this field with projects to design and produce chips for the 5G network and other high-tech applications.

In addition to the strong capital flow from the private sector, the Vietnamese Government is implementing a series of specific policies to promote high -tech industry. The establishment of the National Steering Committee on semiconductor industry and strategy to 2030, a vision to 2050 shows the determination to make Vietnam an important technology center. At the same time, business support policies, procedural reform and infrastructure upgrading are creating a solid foundation to attract investment.

Vietnam needs to continue to invest in human resources

However, to truly become a high-tech hub, Vietnam needs to continue to invest in human resources, especially in the field of research and development (R&D). Although competitive labor costs are an advantage, in the high-tech industry, the quality of human resources is the deciding factor. The government and businesses need to cooperate to build in-depth training programs, attract talent and create conditions for the Vietnamese team of engineers to master advanced technologies.

Speaking at the forum "Vietnam proactively develops the semiconductor industry and artificial intelligence in the new era," Politburo and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that the goal of ensuring human resource development for the semiconductor chip industry, AI, has actively trained 100,000 semiconductor engineers and AI in the coming years is a big challenge but Vietnam is focusing on the education system, more and more educational training solutions Universal English is the second language; Reasonable flow training with lifelong learning spirit.
