The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction has just sent an urgent document to the Department of Finance regarding the assignment of the task of preparing for investment in the project to upgrade and expand Tran Binh Trong Street (from Ly Thai To Street to Hung Vuong, Vuon Lai Ward).
Previously, the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned the Department of Construction to urgently establish an investment project to expand this route using the city budget.
Implementing the direction, the Department of Construction requested the Department of Finance to advise the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to assign the task of preparing for investment to the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board as the investor.
According to the proposal, the Tran Binh Trong road expansion investment project will be added to the medium-term public investment plan for the period 2026 - 2030, with a total capital of about 1,073 billion VND.
Of which, the capital plan for 2026 alone is expected to allocate about 850 billion VND to submit to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council for consideration and approval at the November 2025 session.

Tran Binh Trong Street (from Ly Thai To to Hung Vuong Street) is currently about 370 m long, but the road surface is only 5 m wide on average, and has not been invested in sync with neighboring routes such as Hung Vuong and Ly Thai To.
When expanded to 17 m, the road will be seamlessly connected to the surrounding main roads, creating favorable conditions for traffic and improving the landscape of the central area.
The total estimated investment is about 1,073 billion VND, of which compensation and site clearance costs account for more than 830.5 billion VND, construction costs are about 40.7 billion VND.
The project is expected to relocate 115 households and 1 organization to have a construction site.

The expansion of Tran Binh Trong Street is also associated with the urban renovation plan and green space development of Ho Chi Minh City.
Right in the neighboring area, land plot No. 1 Ly Thai To Street (more than 4.4 hectares) is being prepared to build a green park, community living space, children's playground and a COVID-19 victim memorial site.
The two projects will contribute to forming an open space, connecting the community in the city center, while promoting infrastructure renovation, creating a new look for the area.
