Hot spot for investing in data centers
Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just issued a decision to lease nearly 5 hectares of land to Evolution DC Vietnam HCMC Joint Stock Company to implement the Evolution DC Vietnam HCMC data center project worth more than 500 million USD.
The project is expected to contribute to improving the digital infrastructure capacity of Ho Chi Minh City, meeting the needs of artificial intelligence, digital services, cloud computing, and promoting the digital economy development process in the locality.
This project continues to show that Ho Chi Minh City is a hot spot for investing in data centers in the Asia-Pacific region (APAC). According to data from the market research company Cushman & Wakefield in the first half of 2026, Ho Chi Minh City currently has 14 data centers operated by 9 companies, with a total capacity of 33 megawatts (MW).
New data center projects are being planned in Ho Chi Minh City in the first half of 2026 with a total capacity of 68MW, including very large investments such as a framework agreement worth 1 billion USD between G42, FPT Corporation and Viet Thai Corporation, as well as a super-scale AI data center project worth 2 billion USD.
According to market research company Savills, Ho Chi Minh City in particular and Vietnam have advantages compared to other countries in Southeast Asia in building data centers, including lower investment costs (ranging from 5.7 million USD to 8.7 million USD/MW for grade III projects), favorable laws for foreign ownership and competitive energy prices. In addition, Vietnam also has a strategic geographical location in the region, while avoiding land and energy restrictions of developed grade 1 markets such as Singapore.
Ho Chi Minh City is home to many large enterprises in technology, finance, digital services... creating demand for data, digital infrastructure and system expansion capabilities. Statistics show that Ho Chi Minh City accounts for 40% of Vietnam's cloud computing market share in 2025, the largest in the country. This reality shows that building new data centers is an inevitable requirement of the market.
In the future, the data center market will generate large revenue, estimated at 3 billion USD by 2031, according to Savills.

Billions of USD invested in technology and innovation
The data center is only part of many technology investment projects in Ho Chi Minh City. Information about the results after more than a year of implementing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation on August 20, representatives of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology shared notable figures.
Accordingly, after more than a year of implementing the Resolution, Ho Chi Minh City has entered the Top 100 cities with a dynamic global innovative startup ecosystem according to Start-up Blink (ranked 98th, up 12 places).
Attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) into the field of science and technology and digital transformation of Ho Chi Minh City reached more than 1.4 billion USD, higher than the same period in 2025. Accumulated to date, the City has 3,343 valid science and technology projects with a total investment capital of about 3.9 billion USD.
Piloting the commercialization of research results and intellectual property has attracted about 80 dossiers and registered products with a total budget of more than 500 billion VND (of which more than 50% is outside the budget).
Information technology and telecommunications infrastructure has been completed with 100% of communes, wards, and special zones having been synchronously invested to be ready to accelerate in the coming period; the proportion of Ho Chi Minh City's population covered by 5G is more than 95%.
