HCMC - After more than 12 years of development, the concentrated digital technology park system in Vietnam has more than 630 enterprises, with more than 42,000 high-quality employees.

On December 5 in Ho Chi Minh City, the Department of Information Technology Industry - Ministry of Science and Technology and the Department of Foreign Investment - Ministry of Finance and Quang Trung Software Park (QTSC), Ho Chi Minh City Digital Transformation Support and Consulting Center (DXCenter) organized the Workshop "Promoting Investment in Concentrated Digital Technology Park".

The event attracted the participation of more than 200 delegates from state management agencies, departments, investment promotion organizations, technology enterprises, investors and digital infrastructure and service providers.

In the coordinating role, the representative of the Ministry of Science and Technology said that the concentrated digital technology park is the foundational infrastructure of the digital technology industry, the "good land" of enterprises, and is the place that opens up opportunities to realize the aspiration of Vietnam to become a strong country in technology.

Since 2006, when the centralized information technology park model was legalized and the Government issued Decree 154/2013/ND-CP, Vietnam has laid the first brick for today's centralized digital technology park system.

After more than 12 years of development, the centralized digital technology park system has brought proud results, with 8 centralized digital technology parks established in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Can Tho. Land fund is 2.588 million m2, an increase of more than 10 times compared to 2013.

In addition, these areas also have more than 630 digital technology enterprises operating, growing by 20%; attracting more than 42,450 high-quality workers, double compared to 2013. Land use efficiency reaches about 10 million USD/ha/year - a very high level compared to other functional areas...

At the workshop, representatives of other units shared many valuable presentations. In particular, the presentation by QTSC leaders highlighted the new development direction of the unit, towards the model of "Digital Technology Zone - Green, Smart Urban Area", focusing on building a comprehensive ecosystem and developing cutting edges of breakthrough technology such as: digital infrastructure, cloud computing, big data, network security, digital human resources, innovation, startups...

A representative of Becamex Group shared a speech: "Centralized Digital Technology Zone: Semiconductor & Innovation Industrial Center", clearly stating the orientation for developing digital technology zones associated with the semiconductor industry - a field that is expected to lead economic growth in the future.

In addition to the workshop, the technology exhibition area displays and introduces digital transformation solutions, data center infrastructure, AI, IoT, information security and safety, technology application, smart cities... creating a space for connecting and sharing implementation experiences between technology enterprises, investors and local representatives.

The representative of the Ministry of Science and Technology believes that after the workshop, in the coming time, many more centralized digital technology park models will be formed in localities; many large investment projects will be launched; many ideas and linkages will be nurtured.

And most importantly, it is a strong belief that Vietnam can completely become a leading destination for the world's digital technology industry.
