Although Apple has just launched the new M4 series with iMac, Mac mini and MacBook Pro models, the company has already started developing the M5 processor with the support of TSMC - the leading chip manufacturer today.
According to information from The Elec, the M5 processor will use an improved ARM architecture and be manufactured using TSMC's latest 3nm technology, helping to increase performance compared to previous M3 and M4 processor lines.
The report also shows that the M5 chip will apply technology to enhance thermal management and reduce power leakage.
The first products that could use the M5 processor will be the iPad Pro, MacBook Pro, and Apple Vision Pro, but these products probably won't be released until fall 2025.
Additionally, it appears that Apple has no plans for major improvements to its products with the M5 chip. According to reports, the company may start tweaking the design of some of its Macs in 2026, when it plans to ditch miniLED displays for new OLED technology.
