This recap shows favorite channels, topics of interest and many other interesting impressions compiled from users' video viewing habits throughout the year. The feature is now open to both free and paid users.
Users just need to go to the "You" tab at the end of the application to start viewing. Recap cards can also be shared on social media, just like Spotify or Apple Music is doing.
In terms of music, YouTube Music still maintains the yearly summary, but this year there is a small change: after completing the 2025 video recap, users will be able to switch to the YouTube Music application to watch their own music summary. This feature only works for those who have been using YouTube Music for at least 10 hours a year.
The appearance of the yearly summary in the main application shows that YouTube is looking to strengthen the central role of videos in its ecosystem, while creating more reasons for users to interact and share content viewing habits.
As platforms increasingly push to personalize experiences, YouTube's Recap is expected to become an annual product, similar to how Spotify Wrapped makes its mark at the end of each year. With the 20-year milestone, this step also marks an effort to renew the veteran platform, aiming to connect more users in the next development journey.
