YouTube confirmed that it is implementing a voluntary severance pay program for employees in the US, along with a severance pay regime. CEO Neal Mohan announced the program in an internal memorandum of understanding on October 30.
According to TechCrunch, the new move is not part of a staff cut plan, but is part of a product restructuring process.
Specifically, YouTube divides product groups into three separate categories: Registered Products, Propried products for Viewers and Propried products for Creators & Communities.
The "Registered Products" group will focus on developing YouTube Premium, YouTube Music and OTT services.
Meanwhile, the Property for Viewers group is in charge of platforms such as YouTube main, YouTube Kids, Learning, and Quality.
Finally, the Products for Creators & Communities group aims to support content creators and build a stronger community ecosystem.
YouTube confirmed that none of the locations were removed during this reorganization process. The announcement was made at the same time Alphabet, YouTube's parent company, reported third-quarter advertising revenue of 10.26 billion USD, up 15% compared to 2024.
