Reasons why people with high blood pressure should eat perilla leaves

For people with high blood pressure, eating perilla leaves needs to be considered and limited, because some characteristics of this type of leaf can affect the cardiovascular system.

Perilla leaves are a familiar spice vegetable in Vietnamese meals, and are also considered a medicine in traditional medicine. This type of leaf has a characteristic aroma, contains many vitamins and antioxidant compounds that are beneficial for health. Perilla is often used to relieve colds, support digestion and strengthen resistance.

According to traditional medicine, perilla leaves are warm in nature and have the effect of stimulating blood circulation. When eaten in moderation, this characteristic can help the body circulate blood and qi better.

However, for people with high blood pressure, excessive circulatory stimulation can cause blood pressure to increase. This forces the heart to work harder to pump blood, which can cause symptoms such as dizziness, headache, or rapid heartbeat.

In addition, perilla also contains some essential oils and biological active ingredients that can stimulate nerves and increase heart rate. For people with stable blood pressure, this effect does not cause significant effects. But for people with hypertension, consuming a lot of perilla leaves can cause the cardiovascular system to be overstimulated, increasing the risk of blood pressure fluctuations.

When blood pressure fluctuates sharply, the risk of dangerous complications such as stroke or cardiovascular disease can also increase.

People with high blood pressure are often recommended to maintain a light diet, limiting hot or easily irritating foods.

Perilla leaves, due to their warm properties, if eaten regularly in large quantities can cause the body to generate heat, increasing restlessness or discomfort. This can negatively affect the long-term blood pressure control process.

However, that does not mean that people with high blood pressure must completely abstain from perilla leaves. If used in small quantities as a seasoning in meals, perilla can still bring some benefits such as supporting digestion and supplementing nutrients.

The important thing is that patients need to eat in a reasonable amount and combine it with a scientific diet, low in salt, lots of green vegetables and regular exercise.

Although perilla leaves have many nutritional values and health benefits, people with high blood pressure should limit eating this type of leaf.

Using too much can stimulate circulation and increase blood pressure. Therefore, eating moderately and in accordance with health conditions is the best way to protect the cardiovascular system.
