According to health experts, although warm water can aid digestion and help the body absorb nutrients better, there is no direct scientific evidence to prove that drinking warm water after meals can reduce blood sugar.
Dr. Shrey Srivastava - an internist at Sharda Hospital ( Greater Noida, India) - said that warm water helps improve circulation and supports nutrient absorption, thereby indirectly helping the body process sugar more effectively.
However, its impact on blood sugar is very small compared to important factors such as diet, exercise and medication.
Sharing the same view, Dr. Narander Singhla ( Birla CK Hospital, Delhi) explains that warm water can stimulate the digestive system and slow down the absorption of glucose from food, supporting better nutritional breakdown.
However, he emphasized that drinking warm water alone is not enough to significantly reduce blood sugar levels after meals.
Dr. Tushar Tayal (CK Birla Hospital, Gurugram) added: "Drinking warm water after a meal can help you feel comfortable and maintain enough water, but this is not an effective way to control blood sugar".
More importantly, it is still a healthy lifestyle, including moderate eating, regular exercise and compliance with medical instructions.
Although there are several studies that warm water can cause the body to consume a small amount of calories. But Dr. Tayal said that it is unclear whether this has a real influence on blood sugar control.
Meanwhile, Dr. Amit Saraf (Jupiter Hospital, Thane) emphasized the control of blood sugar requires a comprehensive approach. A diet rich in fiber, low sugar, diet control and regular exercise is a key factor.
Similarly, Dr. Pranav A. Ghody ( Wockhardt Hospital, Mumbai Central) advises that warm water can be a simple support, but cannot replace other scientific methods.
"Always consult a doctor for guidance appropriate to your personal health condition," Mr. Ghody emphasized.
Thus, drinking warm water after meals can be good for digestion and feel pleasant. But if the goal is to control blood sugar, you need to combine many factors such as a reasonable diet, regular exercise and follow the instructions of health experts.
