After 5 years of being licensed, the LNG Power Project has not yet been implemented. The investor said that due to a number of objective reasons, the progress was delayed. Currently, the legal procedures for the investment preparation phase are almost complete. The investor requested Ca Mau province to support the resolution of outstanding issues within local authority, help work with the Central Government, and allow the measurement of new boundaries of the factory and geotechanical surveys at the site.
Secretary of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Ho Hai emphasized that Ca Mau still has many difficulties, and the infrastructure is not as good as other localities. Investors choosing Ca Mau to implement a national-scale project is an important opportunity to promote the socio-economy, especially in the energy sector, one of the development pillars of the province, especially clean energy. The province has the advantage of a long coastline, which is favorable for large-scale energy projects.

Secretary of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Ho Hai affirmed: The province is very interested and committed to creating the most favorable conditions for investors.Difficulties of enterprises are also difficulties of localities, the province will proactively coordinate with central ministries and branches to resolve them.
The Provincial Party Secretary suggested that the Provincial People's Committee study, establish a working group and closely coordinate with businesses, regularly monitor, urge progress and promptly handle problems.Departments, branches and sectors must uphold their spirit and responsibility, and provide maximum support to businesses within their authority.

The Bac Lieu LNG Power Plant project is invested by Delta Offshore Energy (DOE), and was granted an investment certificate by the People's Committee of Bac Lieu province (old) in January 2020, with a designed capacity of 3,200 MW and a total investment of more than 4 billion USD. This is the largest FDI project in the Mekong Delta, expected to bring in large budget revenue and create jobs for thousands of local workers.
