On the afternoon of August 5, information from the Office of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province said that the People's Committee of the province has sent a document to local departments and branches regarding the construction plan to expand and upgrade Ca Mau Airport.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province requested provincial departments, branches, sectors and People's Committees of communes and wards to grasp the content and coordinate the implementation of related contents according to regulations.

At the same time, proactively disseminate information to civil servants, public employees, workers and people about the construction plan of the package, the expected closure time of Ca Mau Airport of Vietnam Airports Corporation - JSC (ACV).

According to the document of Vietnam Airports Corporation - JSC (ACV) sent to the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, package No. 12 - "Construction and supply, installation of runway equipment, taxiway, aircraft parking lot and auxiliary works" under the Ca Mau Airport expansion and upgrade project, invested by ACV. The expected start date is August 19, 2025, construction location is at Ca Mau Airport, Ca Mau Province. The expected completion and operation time is October 2026 (the construction period is 14 months).

During the construction period, Ca Mau Airport will be closed for 12 months (from November 1, 2025 to October 31, 2026).

During the construction process, Vietnam Airports Corporation - JSC will direct the contractor to speed up the progress, minimize the construction time, and soon resume operations at Ca Mau Airport, limiting the socio-economic impact of the locality.

Mr. Pham Thanh Lam - Director of Ca Mau Airport - said that on July 31, the unit will coordinate with the Land Fund Development Center of Ca Mau province and the People's Committee of Tan Thanh ward to organize the handover of the final site, serving the implementation of the project to upgrade and expand Ca Mau Airport.

The project to upgrade and expand Ca Mau Airport has been approved by the Prime Minister in principle for investment under Decision No. 1188/QD-TTg dated October 15, 2024, with the goal of serving the operation of A320, A321 and equivalent aircraft. Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) is the investor, using legal capital, with a total investment of about VND 2,400 billion.
