He mainly operates in the petrochemical and energy sectors, through companies such as Barito Pacific, Barito Renewables Energy. Prajogo Pangestu first appeared on the Forbes billionaire list in 2017, when he owned assets of about 1.8 billion USD.

He is known as the "king of coal" of Indonesia. Billionaire Low Tuck Kwong is currently ranked 92nd in the world with a net worth of about 25.3 billion USD.
