Here are foods to avoid to protect children's oral health, shared by pediatrician Dr. Krishna Prasad.

1. Hard candy

Mints, lollipops and cough drops can be harmful to your teeth because they are high in sugar and can get stuck in between your teeth.

2. Sticky candy

Many children enjoy eating candy, cookies, or other sticky sweets. These products are high in sugar and can get stuck in the cavities of their teeth.

3. Pickles

Pickles may taste great, but they're bad for your teeth because they're made with vinegar and can erode tooth enamel.

4. Carbonated drinks

Carbonated drinks contain acid, which erodes tooth enamel. Many soft drinks or sodas also contain a lot of sugar, which is not good for children's teeth.

5. Processed dried fruit

Many manufacturers add large amounts of sugar to dried fruits to make them sweeter, so they are not good for dental health.

6. Tomato sauce or soy sauce

Tomato sauce and soy sauce can damage tooth enamel. Teeth can turn yellow or brown if you don't limit your consumption.

7. Canned fruit

Canned fruit is often soaked in sugar syrup, which is bad for teeth, so limit your child's intake of canned fruit.
