A disabled couple with dozens of medals wants their children to be proud and not inferior

The disabled couple hopes their children will be proud of them, instead of being inferior.

Sharing with MC Dinh Toan in "Thuan vo thuong chong", Ms. Ngoc Diep admitted that loving or finding someone who is truly suitable for her is not easy. However, the relationship with Mr. Tuan comes from very simple things. Since they were young, the two studied in Ho Chi Minh City - although they were in different classes, they had known each other. Later, when they both studied at a vocational school for the disabled, they became more attached to each other in the university entrance exams.

Sharing with psychologist Ly Thi Mai, Mr. Anh Tuan said: "When the family knew that we were both disabled - but they loved each other, the parents were very worried. But we have decided that we will truly love each other, so we should try together. We told our families to believe that we can work on our own, support ourselves and build our own lives.

For Ms. Ngoc Diep, convincing her parents to accept that love was a big challenge: "When my family opposed it, my husband and I tried to convince her with words, but then I realized that the best way to convince her was to strive for herself. I need to prove to my family that we can live independently.

Most importantly, we come together through a lasting connection, and not a temporary thing. After getting married, we stabilized our jobs and gradually built our own lives. It was not until we had children that the family was truly assured and accepted to live together. Currently, we have two grandchildren, the oldest is 14 years old this year, and the youngest is 9 years old, Ms. Ngoc Diep shared.

Their marriage has also gone through difficult times, especially when their children were young. When they go to work far away, they have to ask their grandparents and siblings in the house to help them take care of their children. Thanks to the support of the family, the couple Anh Tuan - Ngoc Diep can work with peace of mind and stabilize their lives. Currently, the children are grown up and taking care of themselves.

The fact that parents are disabled does not make children feel inferior, but on the contrary, it becomes their pride, Ms. Ngoc Diep said: "Maybe the children have grown up with their parents since they were young, so I don't ask much, but I know that the children are aware of their parents' circumstances. What makes me feel happiest is that the children do not feel inferior because their parents are disabled, on the contrary, the children are very proud.

The couple Anh Tuan - Ngoc Diep also have proud achievements in chess. Mr. Anh Tuan shared that he has won domestic awards almost every year. In particular, he represented Vietnam at the para Games in 2017, 2019, 2021 and 2023, with the highest achievement being the bronze medal. Ms. Ngoc Diep has been involved in chess since 2004. To date, she has won a total of 41 medals of all kinds at national tournaments.

Although life has stabilized, for the couple Anh Tuan - Ngoc Diep, worries about the family are still there. I think every family will have concerns. Currently, my family's life is temporarily stable, not too lacking, what I care about most is the future of my children," Mr. Tuan shared.

Ms. Ngoc Diep said: For me, the biggest concern is my health. As a disabled person, I understand very well that when you reach a certain age, your health drops very quickly. Therefore, I always try to exercise, keep my body strong enough to take care of my children, and work with my husband to raise them to study well. That is what we are really interested in most right now.
