From a young age, Thu Dao realized that she was not like her friends. When her friends grew up normally, her limbs were less developed, and her travel and daily activities were more difficult. The disease caused her body to slow down to develop, forcing her to accept a height of 1.2 m as an adult, leading to many inconveniences in studying, working and communicating. Self-consciousness and sadness sometimes overwhelm, but the desire to be loved and live a normal life never goes out.
In the program, a cycling toy reminded her of a special memory. In grade six, because of her small stature, her parents only dared to buy her a children's bicycle to go to school. Seeing her friends riding a big bicycle while she was self-conscious on a small bicycle, she realized the difference in herself. That was also the time she started to learn to face the curious looks, even pity the others around her.
Her special appearance makes her every step in life slower than others, but she does not let that define her self-worth. She said that she chose to look at things more gently, practice being optimistic, and consider difficulties as challenges to overcome. The family became an important support, always by the side of encouragement, giving her more courage to move forward.
Love comes to Ms. Thu Dao in a very ordinary way. While selling lottery tickets, she met a man who later became her husband. In the same situation, having to work hard to make a living, the two quickly found a common voice, from sharing into habits and gradually into love. A few years later, the little lottery ticket seller got married with the blessings of relatives.
The joy of being a wife is extended by the desire to be a mother. When they learned the news of their pregnancy, the couple was both happy and worried. The examination results showed that the baby had respiratory problems, and the doctor advised not to hold the fetus to avoid risks. After much hesitation, the two still decided to have a child because that was their first child they had been looking forward to for so long. The baby was born a boy weighing 3.1 kg but died just a few hours later because he could not breathe on his own, turning a happy day into the saddest day of the couple's life.
The pain of losing a child is not easy to end, but Ms. Thu Dao did not let her fall. She chose to cherish her child's short time to live, considering it a gift that life has given her. The love of her husband and the sharing of the family helped her feel more calm when recalling the incident, looking forward instead of just drowning in tears.
Not only trying to build a family life, Ms. Thu Dao also finds joy in sports with the sport of throwing disc for the disabled. When hearing that she wanted to participate in the competition, her parents were worried because they were afraid that their daughter would not be healthy enough. She gently said, if you win an award, it will be a joy, but if not, consider it an experience. In the end, she won a medal, bringing pride to her family and herself.
