In recent days, the price of green vegetables in Hung Yen has increased sharply after a widespread storm that "disturbed" the meals of many families. Water spinach was previously only about 10,000 VND/kg but now it has increased to 25,000-35,000 VND/kg; cabbage from 25,000 VND/kg, lettuce from about 50,000 VND/kg.
At Pho Hien market, Ms. Nguyen Thi Yen (Pho Hien ward) said that the family had to carefully calculate each dish. Previously, I spent 50,000 VND to buy enough vegetables to eat for several meals. Now, with 50,000 VND, I can only buy a few mustard greens and water spinach. We have to consider each batch of vegetables when cooking" - Ms. Yen shared.
At GO Commercial Center in Pho Hien Ward, Malabar spinach is also very scarce. Root and fruit such as squash, radish, white radish... are sold in large quantities but the price has increased 2-3 times.
Ms. Kim Oanh - owner of a restaurant in Hong Chau ward shared: "I have to change the office lunch menu every day. Before, when customers asked for more vegetables, I always served them, but now the price of vegetables has almost doubled, sometimes even though I know the customers are not happy, I still have to refuse."

Not only restaurants, but consumers going to the market also clearly feel the pressure. Ms. Hoang Thi Lan, a housewife in Son Nam ward, said: "The price has increased so much that I have to buy less, choose the freshest vegetables and prioritize vegetables to eat immediately. The more expensive tubers and fruits are just enough to buy.
Vegetable growers in Tan Hung and Hoan Long communes also face difficulties when many areas of vegetables and tubers are damaged by prolonged heavy rain. This is the main reason for the decrease in supply and the spike in prices.
In this context, families have to adjust their spending, reduce vegetable intake and prioritize more stable price items, while restaurants are trying to make amends to maintain the quality of customer service. People and traders all hope that the weather will be stable so that vegetable sources can recover, helping daily meals return to normal.
