Late afternoon on Friday the weekend, after finishing work, Mr. Tran Van Minh (Lao Cai ward) did not rush to rest but spent about an hour cycling with his son around the residential area.
For him, it is a time when both can talk about studying, friends and things that are happening during the day.
In the past, my father was very strict. He rarely confided about anything. I didn't want my child to grow up with such a feeling of distance, so I always tried to spend time listening to my child more," Mr. Minh shared.
According to Mr. Minh, being a father today is not only about taking care of the economy but also accompanying children in each stage of adulthood.
There are days when the two fathers and sons play football together, read books or simply sit and drink water and tell each other small stories. Those moments help the child be more open and also make him understand the child better.
Not only Mr. Minh, many young fathers in Lao Cai are gradually changing their way of raising children.
Instead of just reminding or setting rigid rules, they choose to chat, share and become friends for their children to trust.

Mr. Hoang Van Nam (Cam Duong ward) said that before, because he was busy with work, he had little time to be with his children.
However, since his child entered elementary school, he proactively arranged work so that every night he would spend time playing chess, reading stories or taking his child for a walk.
I realize that my child tells more stories when the two of us play together. There are things that if you just ask 'How is studying today?', the child will answer superficially, but when walking or playing football together, the child tells a lot," Mr. Nam said.
According to family experts, the presence of a father plays an important role in the development of children.
What children need are not expensive gifts, but the feeling of being cared for, listened to, and accompanied by their father in daily life.
In modern life, when work pressure is increasing, spending time with children is not always easy.
However, just from simple things like a cycling session, a football match or a conversation before bedtime, many fathers in Lao Cai are learning every day how to be friends with their children, so that their childhood is not only with the love of their mothers but also with the companionship of their fathers.
