Ms. X is currently a Japanese interpreter with more than 14 years of working at a foreign company. Her career path started from a trainee position in Japan. Without a university degree or abundant economic conditions, she strives to study on her own to build a stable life. Ironically, in her own marriage, she has repeatedly lost the right to be respected.
According to the story, right from the day of her debut, her father was worried and predicted that his daughter would face many hardships. However, the wedding still took place completely. Only 7 days after the wedding, she discovered that her husband had another pregnant woman. Instead of facing it, she chose to remain silent and hide it from her family, starting a long series of suffering days.
Ms. X's husband works as a tour guide and has repeatedly taken advantage of his job to deceive her. During 13 years of living together, she discovered at least 5 affairs, accompanied by debt and gambling. Despite both giving birth and working to support the family, she still had to bear the consequences of her husband's mistakes. Her parents - farmers in the Mekong Delta - secretly supported their son-in-law financially many times without knowing that their daughter was living in tragedy.
There was a period when her husband returned to take care of the family, making her hope that everything had changed. But the cycle of betrayal continued, the husband-wife relationship gradually only existed because of responsibility to the children. The climax was when she discovered that her husband borrowed a large amount of money, pushing both families into crisis. Mental pressure caused her to collapse, having to be hospitalized for treatment.
A turning point occurred when her eldest son advised her mother to divorce, and at the same time she was abused by her husband in front of her children. Realizing that her sacrifice was no longer love but self-destruction, in August 2025, she decided to file for divorce, ending 13 years of hurtful marriage.
Following the story, director Le Hoang expressed his frustration. He assessed that Ms. X is not dependent or ignorant but has endured too long a marriage full of deviations.
The male director believes that the root of the tragedy lies in the fact that women do not know how to appreciate themselves. He emphasized that sacrifice is not a way to maintain a family, but the most important thing is self-respect and mutual respect.
Ms. X's story makes many viewers ponder the limits of endurance in marriage.
