Sports Chosun reported that a woman over 40 years old, an MC, was arrested for assaulting a teenage girl, leading to her death.
According to JTBC's Case Chief program broadcast on October 1, the police arrested and detained this woman (abbreviated as "A") on charges of causing fatal child abuse and abandoning the victim, after she was suspected of beating her teenage daughter (abbreviated as "B").
The incident occurred at around 4:30 p.m. on September 22, when "B" was taken to the emergency department of a hospital in Namhae district, South Gyeongsang province by his mother's car.
A confided to the doctor: When I got out of the car after work, I saw my daughter unconscious and rushed her to the hospital. However, the medical team quickly suspected that there were unusual signs after discovering that there were many bruises and injuries on Bs body suspected to be caused by aun impact, so they reported it to the police.
According to the hospital, when he was taken to the scene, "B" no longer had pulse or breathing. The staff said: A showed signs of losing control of her emotions, constantly asking why we said her child was dead when her child was still alive, and she even fiercely argued with the treating doctor.
From the signs of injury, the police identified A as the main suspect and expanded the investigation. After that, the public was shocked to learn that A was a singer and announcer at a local station in Jinju City, South Gyeongsang Province.
The day before the incident (September 21), A and her daughter were said to be present at the fire fighting drill event organized by the Namhae Fire Department, where A participated as a volunteer.
However, CCTV footage from the location only recorded the scene of "A" walking around all night, without seeing her daughter's figure. After the incident was exposed, A was dismissed from her role as a local media ambassador.
The police said they are continuing to investigate to clarify the entire development and cause of the case.
