In a recent interview with HeraldPop, director Hwang Dong Hyuk continued to candidly share about the audience's reactions to "Squid Game 2".
The director expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support of the audience for "Squid Game 2": "I am extremely grateful. Although there are different comments, isn't the popularity of a work ultimately measured by the number of views? This makes me know that there are many people who love and wait for "Squid Game".

The director of "Squid Game" called it "a miracle" that a Korean film could top the most-watched film rankings in so many countries around the world: "I feel like this is a once-in-a-lifetime achievement and always wonder if I can do this again."
However, Hwang Dong Hyuk also admitted to the pressure of audience expectations. The male director shared that he had spent 5-6 years focusing only on "Squid Game" and was not aware of the level of interest from audiences around the world in his product, until "Squid Game 2" was released. Because of the popularity of "Squid Game", Hwang Dong Hyuk said that he also had to accept criticism, among which, what surprised him was the reaction from the audience at home.

"I feel like the reviews from Korean audiences are the harshest, as if I've come home but still feel uncomfortable. I just hope for more support," director Hwang Dong Hyuk shared.
After 3 years since part 1, "Squid Game 2" aired on December 26 and created a fever all over the world. "Squid Game 2" tells the story of Gi Hun's (played by Lee Jung Jae) journey back to the game of life and death. Here he has an encounter with Front Man (played by Lee Byung Hun) under the name of player 001.
Although it caused a stir worldwide, "Squid Game 2" also received a lot of criticism from its infamous cast to its "holey" script.
