My Royal nemesis" is a romantic comedy film, revolving around Shin Seo Ri (Lim Ji Yeon) - an unknown actress who is suddenly possessed by the soul of Kang Dan Sim, a notorious villain from Joseon (Korea).
From here, her life is turned upside down when she carries the personality and ambition of a concubine who gradually rises from a low status to seize power. That journey becomes even more complicated when Seo Ri has to confront Cha Se Gye (Heo Nam Jun) - a cold-blooded tycoon heir, likened to "products of capitalism".
Sharing about the selection process, director Han Tae Seop said that Lim Ji Yeon was the top choice of the crew. According to him, the actress possesses her own appeal, suitable for the image of a character with a strong personality, proactive and independent.
The director was also impressed with Lim Ji Yeon's acting ability in emotional scenes. He said that there were times when he focused too much on the actress's acting to the point of forgetting the harsh weather conditions on the film set.
In addition, he expects the character Shin Seo Ri to bring many highlights when placing different perspectives in the modern context, thereby creating emotional impact for viewers.
With Heo Nam Jun, the director appreciated the combination of masculine appearance and flexible acting ability. "At first I was attracted by Nam Jun's appeal, but then realized he also has the ability to handle humorous situations.
According to the director, the balance between comedy elements and acting depth helps the character Cha Se Gye become prominent, while creating notable interactions with Shin Seo Ri.
He also emphasized the harmony between the actors, especially Lim Ji Yeon and Heo Nam Jun, when both always supported each other during the filming process, from gentle scenes to emotional moments.
Besides, Jang Seung Jo - playing Choi Moon Do is considered an important factor in the storyline. The character has a complex color, contributing to creating more drama for the story.
Regarding the highlights of the work, director Han Tae Seop said that the confrontation between the characters, combined with humor and romance, will be the element to retain the audience.
My Royal Nemesis" is scheduled to air on May 8.
