Belonging to the fantasy comedy genre, "Oh My Ghost Clients" tells the story of Noh Mu Jin (Jung Kyung Ho) - a labor lawyer who is able to see ghosts after a near-death experience. To help special relatives, he accompanies his sister-in-law Na Hee Joo (Seol In Ah), former reporter Go Kyun Woo ( Cha Hak Yeon).
"My ghost master" aired last weekend with viewership ratings of 4.1% and 3.2%, respectively, according to Nielsen Korea. In episode 1, the film focuses on introducing Mu Jin and his colleagues. At the end of episode 1, the reason why the male lead had to become a lawyer to serve ghost customers was revealed.
In episode 2, Lee Min Wook - Mu Jin's first customer appeared. An apprentice in a factory, Min Wook passed away in a fit of being forced to work overtime. To seek justice for Min Wook, Mu Jin and his colleagues entered the factory to find evidence related to the case.
According to Korean media, although the film's ratings are less popular than those shown at the same time frame such as "A Seoul unknown", "Ghost Palace", "Caring for the extravagant brothers"... the message about issues related to workers' rights, labor safety, reaction to unfairness at the workplace... scores.
In addition, the charming acting of Jung Kyung Ho, Seol In Ah, Cha Hak Yeon, along with the way the work combines magical and humorous elements, are also a plus point. However, if we compare it with previous Korean magical and mysterious projects such as "Ghost Photo Studio", "Scrap Real Estate"..., "My ghost master" still has many predictable details, easy to wear.
For example, the male lead was built with a somewhat miserable life. At 40, he was left penniless after "burning" the severance pay into virtual currency. To earn money and get back together with his wife (who is still separated), Mu Jin decided to become a labor lawyer.
Due to debt, he and his colleagues went to the construction sites to expose the violation with the purpose of " blackmailing". But as soon as his career " improved", Mu Jin had an accident and had to sign a contract with a god to do special work - helping ghosts solve unfinished labor problems while they were still alive.
According to the producer's continued development, each episode will be a journey for Mu Jin to pursue the case and seek justice for his customers. According to the familiar motif, the male lead will eventually mature and change his perspective on life, instead of focusing only on the current money-making goal.
If there are no more interesting details, it is not too surprising that "My ghost master" is on the decline, continuing to decline in viewership. However, fans of Jung Kyung Ho in particular, and fans of "black elephants" in general, still have expectations, as the film journey has only started 2 episodes.
