Actress Cha Joo Young recently appeared as a guest on tvN's entertainment program "You Quiz on the Block".
During the conversation, MCs Jo Se Ho and Yoo Jae Suk mentioned the rumors circulating in the entertainment industry related to Cha Joo Young's family background. Rumors say that Cha Joo Young is a star who was "born with a golden spoon", raised in a wealthy family of the financial world.
The actress denied the rumor: "That is completely untrue". But she further explained: It is true that my father works in the financial industry and all my relatives also work in this industry.
Cha Joo Young once thought that when she grew up, she would obviously work in the financial industry, because her relatives around her were all in this field.
The female star born in 1990 shared that her parents decided to study abroad, even though she did not like that.
While I was practicing choreography, I suddenly received a notice from my parents, and I was sent abroad to study a week later. I thought I would go to the US, but they took me to Malaysia. They told me that I would go to the US or the UK to study at university later, so they wanted me to have the opportunity to experience the learning environment in Southeast Asia, the actress said.
In fact, Cha Joo Young studied abroad in Malaysia as a high school student, then she majored in business administration in the US ( Utah State University).

The actress confided: "Looking back, it seems like I had let my life go without a will since I was young."
According to Cha Joo Young, her father was a strict and patriarchal person. Growing up in such an environment made her think that acting was a path she could not pursue.
When Cha Joo Young decided to become an actor, her father opposed it for a long time.
I often follow what my father says naturally. But when painting a future prospect, I thought about what kind of job would allow me to leave my mark before it was too late. I can always study later, so I want to try something that I am interested in.
My father objected a lot. He was surprised to see me do something I had never mentioned before. When I appeared in my first drama Cheese in the Trap, my father said he would pay the fine to let me quit my job, Cha Joo Young recounted.
The actress had to convince her father in a desperate way: I told him: I think you can do it and I want to spend the rest of my twenties on a new challenge. If I don't succeed when I'm 30, I'll quit my job."

Pursuing acting at the age of 26, in the early years of his career, Cha Joo Young played supporting roles in many films such as "Cheese in the Trap", "Jugglers", "Love in the Moonlight", "The Spies Who Loved Me", "Again My Life"...
In 2022, she gained attention through her role as the villain Choi Hye Jeong in the psychological revenge series "The Glory" produced by Netflix (played by Song Hye Kyo, Lee Do Hyun, Lim Ji Yeon, Jung Sung Il).
This role helped Cha Joo Young be nominated for Best New Actress at the Blue Dragon Series Awards.
Recently, Cha Joo Young took on the main role - Wonyeong queen - in tvN's "The Queen Who Crowns". Although the film caused controversy because of its bold "hot" scenes, Cha Joo Young's acting received many positive responses from the audience.
