According to Korean media, BTS' J-Hope sold a luxury apartment at Trimage in Seongsu-dong (Seoul, Korea), which he bought 9 years ago, for 4 billion won.
However, the male singer is a star who owns many luxurious apartments in prime locations in Seoul, so his tax burden is expected to be very significant.
The 84m2 Trismage apartment was bought by J-Hope in July 2016 with a value of about 1.26 billion won - 1.36 billion won. Considering that he did not borrow any money to buy an apartment, the profit from selling the apartment with 4 billion won is currently estimated at about 2.7 billion won.
However, J-Hope is likely to pay about 1.042 billion won in interest tax, so the actual profit he received is about 1.65 billion won (about 31 billion VND).
In addition to the 84m2 Trismage apartment he recently sold, J-Hope also owns a 152m2 apartment in the same building, which was purchased in October 2018 for 3.7 billion won.
In addition, J-Hope has 2 more Apelbaum Hangang apartments in Seobinggo-dong, Yongsan, bought in June 2020. A 273m2 apartment was purchased for 12 billion won, and a 232m2 apartment for about 10 billion won.
All of these apartments were purchased in cash, and based on the purchase price, the value of the 4 properties that J-Hope owns is about 27 billion won. Therefore, J-Hope's property tax burden is expected to be relatively high.
Because the transfer of the right to own the Trimage apartment he sold took place after June 1, J-Hope's annual property tax obligation will be counted as the owner of 4 apartments instead of 3 apartments.
According to financial experts, J-Hope's tax obligations this year are expected to be around 66.6 million won for property tax and 422 million won for comprehensive real estate ownership tax.
A tax law expert said: "I have advised many rich people to own expensive real estate, but this is the first time I have seen a real estate tax burden so high."
After completing his military service in October 2024, J-Hope is the most active member of the BTS group recently.
In the first half of 2025, he released new songs including "Sweet Dreams", "Mona Lisa", "Killin' It Girl" and successfully organized a solo tour "Hope on the stage".
In mid-July, J-Hope had an explosive performance at the Lollapalooza Berlin 2025 music festival as the headliner.
Currently, J-Hope is traveling to the US with the members of BTS to work together on a new album for the group, scheduled to be released in the spring of 2026.
