On February 24, BTS held a global press conference after releasing the album " Map Of The soul: 7".
At the press conference, when asked by a reporter: Recently, director Bong Joon Ho (director of the movie Parasite) has won a number of prestigious international awards, overcoming the barriers of non-English culture. If there is a Bong Joon Ho in the film industry, is it BTS in the music industry? What do you think is the reason why BTS music, or Korean culture in general, has attracted such influence globally?", RM answered on behalf of the group.
At the beginning of the answer, the leader of BTS said that he and the other 6 members felt honored to receive such a question. "Actually, when we were in New York, in press interviews, they always asked us why our songs were so popular or what attracted BTS's music to. We've had this question a lot and sometimes we joking that our music is really catchy, but now I think this is an opportunity to take the answer seriously," RM said.
Speaking about Map Of The soul: 7, RM said the album and the songs are individual stories and this story can affect people around the world. The song is not only the members' own emotions but also what helps people around the world to truly connect with each other. BTS tries to express this through the group's music and dances. RM believes that this is what makes people find new and attractive.
Previously, according to the announcement of management company BigHit Entertainment, to minimize the risk related to the COVID-19 outbreak, BigHit decided to hold a global BTS press conference in Coex, Gangnam through live reporting on YouTube.
