The movie "Cam" is introduced as a horror genre, exploiting a new angle based on the famous Vietnamese fairy tale - Tam Cam.
This version focuses on the sisterly love between Tam (Rima Thanh Vy) and Cam (Lam Thanh My). Since childhood, despite being hated by the world, Tam always stood up to protect and shelter her younger sister.
However, that short-lived peace was quickly shattered. Cam was apparently tied up by a group of strangers and taken away to perform a virgin sacrifice - a sacrificial custom recorded since ancient times. This turning point and the haunting call "why are you crying?" from the three-eyed red devil awakened the evil within Cam, causing her to rise up to take revenge by skinning her face and becoming a terrifying creature.
This film marks Thuy Diem's return to the big screen after a 10-year absence. In this role, the actress born in 1986 transforms into the stepmother and wife of actor Quoc Cuong in the film.
Thuy Diem portrayed the cruelty of the stepmother character.
The actress said that in this script, the director and producer transformed the characters' fates in a different way, in order to bring viewers the most emotional footage.
However, the actress said that her role was cut quite a bit from the script and filming on set.
"I think the film crew has its own decisions to make the film come out in the most complete way with the characters. The duration of each film has a limit and I regret any cut scenes, but I respect the film crew's decision," said Luong The Thanh's wife.
