The 2025 high school graduation exam is expected to be held from June 26 to June 27. According to the exam regulations, to graduate and get admission results to universities and colleges, candidates need to take 4 exams including: 2 compulsory subjects: Math, Literature and 2 elective subjects from the subjects students study in high school, including Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Geography, History, Economic and Legal Education, Information Technology, Technology and Foreign Languages (English, German, Russian, Japanese, French, Chinese, Korean).
Article 40 of the 2025 High School Graduation Exam Regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training stipulates cases of special exemption from taking the High School Graduation Exam.
Group 1: Students belonging to the subjects specified in Point a, b, Clause 1, Article 19 of the Regulations, including those who have completed the General Education/Training Program in the year of the exam, those who have completed the General Education/Training Program but have not graduated from high school in previous years, are eligible to take the exam, have training and study results for the whole year in grade 12 that are assessed as good or higher, are considered for special consideration for high school graduation in case of accident, illness or special emergency no more than 10 days before the exam date or on the first exam day, and cannot take the exam.
The dossier includes: Hospital admission and discharge records (or confirmation of treatment) issued by a hospital at district level or higher (if there is an accident or illness) or confirmation from the People's Committee of the commune where the student resides (if there is a special emergency); minutes of request for special consideration for high school graduation from the high school where the student registered to take the exam (DKDT) and documents proving the results of training and studying in grade 12.
Group 2: Students who are eligible to take the high school graduation exam will be considered for special high school graduation in case of accident, illness or special emergency after taking at least one exam and cannot continue taking the exam, or after an accident, illness or special emergency, they voluntarily take the remaining exams.
Conditions: Qualified to take the exam, with scores of all exams taken for high school graduation recognition reaching 5.0 (five) points or higher; having training results for the entire 12th grade evaluated as good or higher and academic results as satisfactory or higher;
The dossier includes: Application for special consideration of the candidate; hospital admission and discharge records from a hospital at district level or higher (if there is an accident or illness) or confirmation from the People's Committee of the commune where the candidate resides (if there is a special emergency) and documents proving the results of training and studying in grade 12.
Group 3: Athletes who are eligible for special consideration for high school graduation according to the provisions of Article 5 of Decree No. 36/2019/ND-CP dated April 29, 2019 of the Government.
Conditions: Qualify to take the exam; achieve excellent results in national or international sports competitions; the time of the high school graduation exam coincides with the time the athlete trains abroad or participates in international sports competitions;
The dossier includes: Application for special consideration of the candidate; evidence of excellent achievements in national or international sports competitions; evidence that the time of the high school graduation exam coincides with the time the athlete is training abroad or participating in international sports competitions.
Regarding procedures, according to the exam regulations, no later than 7 days after the last exam session of the exam, candidates must submit their application for special admission to the Head of the unit where the candidate registered for the exam. The Head of the unit where the candidate registered for the exam is responsible for receiving and transferring the application for special admission to the Department of Education and Training;
Within 30 days from the end of the last exam session, the High School Graduation Recognition Council will consider and decide on special exemptions for candidates based on their records and the regulations in Clauses 1 and 2 of this Article.
