According to Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Van Thuan, Director of the Academy of Education Management, Artificial Intelligence (AI) supports teachers and learners a lot, but cannot replace thinking.

On the afternoon of December 19, the opening ceremony of the training course on AI Application in school administration and AI application in teaching and learning activities took place at the Academy of Education Management. This is a course organized by Vietnam Digital Technology and Education Joint Stock Company in coordination with the Academy of Education Management.

The goal of the course is to equip modern AI thinking, true to nature - true to trend; Guiding the practical application of AI in teaching, preparing lesson plans, testing and evaluating; Education management, ...

Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Van Thuan, Director of the Academy of Education Management, said that AI is currently applied in school administration activities; teaching as well as research activities.

He acknowledged that the application of AI not only supports school governance but also opens up many possibilities in educational scientific research, such as synthesizing documents, analyzing big data, identifying trends and supporting the development of research orientations. However, besides the benefits that AI brings, there are still "side effects" such as AI can make students lazy to think or develop a relying mentality.

Therefore, in educational activities, Mr. Thuan believes that it is necessary to choose issues that best support teachers and students, and have a way to minimize negative impacts, especially for students.

"Depending on each level of education, it is necessary to flexibly use AI support. We need to use AI to stimulate creativity and redesign the learning process. To do that, schools will have to have a plan to nurture AI application capacity for teachers" - Mr. Thuan said.

For disadvantaged areas, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Van Thuan emphasized that digital infrastructure is the biggest barrier to applying AI in teaching. However, currently, ethnic boarding and semi-boarding schools are being invested in and equipped very well. The Academy is also implementing a series of training programs specifically for the team at these schools. In addition, the State also has programs to build schools in border areas and invest in facilities so that teachers and students can apply technology to teaching.

"My point of view is to adapt to the facilities and conditions, then choose the appropriate form of AI application, so it can be completely adaptive" - he said.

Mr. Nguyen Shanghai - Director of Nghe An Education and Training Center No. 2 is one of the students participating in the training course.

Both a manager, a teacher directly in charge of the class, and a trainee, Mr. Hai understands the concern of a manager when having to adapt to the digital age, but also feels nervous when approaching technologies that can completely change the way we teach for a long time.

"We participate in this class not to " number" education but to free ourselves from repetitive tasks, thereby having more time to implement the core values of the teaching profession. We hope that teachers will convey not only technical knowledge, but also how to apply AI in a humane, ethical way and in line with local educational practices. I hope that after this course, each person will be a " core" of digital transformation in their unit" - Mr. Hai hopes.
