9th grade students stretch themselves in the sprint stage
These days, the atmosphere of preparing for the 10th grade entrance exam in Hanoi is heating up every day. In many secondary schools, 9th grade students are entering the final sprint phase with a tight schedule. The pressure of scores, competition ratios and desire to pass public schools makes many students fall into a state of stress.
Van Khanh - a 9th grade student at Luong The Vinh Secondary & High School - said that she is clearly feeling the pressure of the exam when the number of competing candidates is increasing. According to the female student, the current study schedule is almost full all day. After class, she continues to study extra in the evening, so the rest time is significantly shortened.
“I sleep later than before, and my eating time is also more erratic. Sometimes I feel tired but I have to get used to it, learn to balance, maintain my spirit to continue reviewing, striving for my goals” - Van Khanh said.

Many 9th grade students are also facing great pressure before this important exam. Duc Anh - a student from the same school - said that he is quite worried when the level of competition for 10th grade this year is forecast to be higher.
I feel pressure because the number of candidates taking the 10th grade entrance exam has increased a lot. That makes me more worried during this time" - the male student shared.
Both students said that English is currently the subject that makes them most difficult. Therefore, in addition to class hours, they spend more time practicing questions, learning vocabulary and asking teachers to consolidate the weak knowledge parts.
Although prolonged pressure makes many students easily fall into a state of fatigue, for 9th grade students at this time, encouragement from family and teachers is a great source of motivation for them to continue to try before the important exam.

Accompanying students
After long hours of study, there is the companionship of parents and teachers - people who always try to become a support for their children to firmly pass the exam. Ms. Nguyen Thu Ha - a parent with a child in 9th grade in Yen Hoa ward (Hanoi) - said that the family's biggest concern is not the scores but the prolonged pressure that leads to fatigue.
My child studies almost from morning to night, so the family always tries to create the most comfortable psychology for my child, limiting mentioning too much about scores or creating more pressure. These days, I just hope my child maintains his health, sleeps and rests reasonably and has a really stable spirit to enter the exam" - Ms. Ha shared.
Not only families, teachers are also entering the stage of closest companionship with students. According to Ms. Tran Thu Huong - teacher of Luong The Vinh Secondary & High School, the 10th grade entrance exam is always a stressful period, so in the review process, teachers prioritize helping students firmly grasp basic knowledge before improving.
“We focus on helping students build a solid knowledge foundation, then group them according to their abilities to assign appropriate exercises to improve the effectiveness of tutoring,” Ms. Huong said.
In addition to practicing questions, teachers also focus on correcting errors and practicing test-taking skills for students. Current exam questions not only test knowledge but also require reading comprehension, analysis and thinking skills. "The new exam questions focus on developing thinking, so in addition to teaching knowledge, we also train our children in reading comprehension skills, analyzing problems and orienting how to do things before solving" - Ms. Huong shared.

Not only accompanying in consolidating knowledge, teachers are now becoming an important spiritual support for students before the 10th grade entrance exam. According to Ms. Huong, besides reviewing, teachers always try to care about students' psychology, encourage them to reduce pressure and maintain a stable spirit in the final sprint.
The female teacher emphasized that the most important thing at this time is that students need to believe in themselves. When they have confidence and a solid mentality, they have grasped most of the opportunity for success.
In just a few weeks, the 10th grade entrance exam in Hanoi will officially take place. This is not only a grade transition exam but also a challenge that requires perseverance, determination and the ability to overcome pressure for themselves.
