Regarding the case "Parent Representative Board accused of overcharging, school forced to stop sponsoring" that Lao Dong Newspaper reflected, Ms. Mac Hoan To Quyen - Principal of Nguyen Van Cu Primary School (Quy Nhon Nam ward, Gia Lai) - said that the Parent Representative Board (BĐDPH) reported that it has completed the refund of the entire amount mobilized to parents.
Through verification, from September 2025 to January 16, 2026, the total amount of money BĐDPH Nguyen Van Cu Elementary School mobilized from parents of students in the classes is more than 469 million VND. Of which, the mobilized cost of building rain shelters is more than 153 million VND and mobilizing labor to clean student toilets is more than 316 million VND.
The total amount spent on the rain shelter arch item is more than 159 million VND; hiring cleaning workers is 153 million VND (as of December 31, 2025) and the remaining amount is more than 156 million VND.
Recognizing that the mobilization and receipt of sponsorships were not in accordance with regulations, Quy Nhon Nam Ward People's Committee requested Nguyen Van Cu Primary School and BĐDPH to return the entire amount of more than 469 million VND mobilized from parents.
Confirming with Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Th - Head of the BĐDPH of Nguyen Van Cu Elementary School - said that the BĐDPH has invited parents to the school and refunded the entire amount of money mobilized, and the refund is certified by parents' signatures.
According to Mr. Th, BĐDPH realizes that the mobilization of donations is not in accordance with regulations, so it must return the money to parents. The reimbursed money is contributed by BĐDPH members themselves.
As Lao Dong Newspaper has reported, from the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year, BĐDPH has mobilized parents to donate money to build roofs and clean up, with a total planned amount of 624 million VND for 52 classes, each class 12 million VND.
To date, BĐDPH has collected more than 457 million VND. As of January 10, 2026, BĐDPH has spent more than 312 million VND, including more than 159 million VND for roofing and 153 million VND/month for cleaning in 3 months of October, November and December 2025.
