The above information has just been given in the proposal to develop a project for teaching and learning foreign languages in the national education system, period 2026-2035, with a vision to 2045 of the Ministry of Education and Training.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Education and Training plans to include Lao in general education from 2026, Cambodian from 2028, Thai and Indonesian by 2030.

This is to effectively implement cooperation agreements between Vietnam and other countries, applied to countries that have needs and are eligible for implementation.
The country currently has more than 14 million high school students (from grades 1 to 12). The Foreign Language in the program includes 7 languages: English, Russian, French, Chinese, German, Japanese, Korean (schools choose depending on their needs and conditions).
English is taught in all provinces and cities. With the remaining 6 foreign languages, about 40/63 old localities will implement. French is the largest with more than 30,700 students, followed by Japanese (more than 20,800), Chinese (nearly 14,400)... This number includes students studying under the 7-year or 10-year system, or studying as a Foreign Language 2 or participating in pilot programs.
2025 is the first year that Japanese will be on the list of foreign languages for the high school graduation exam. This year's high school graduation exam also allows candidates to choose a foreign language exam other than foreign language learning at school and is in the 7 foreign languages mentioned above.
To add foreign languages to general schools, as well as teach foreign languages, the Ministry of Education and Training plans to develop a team of teachers, increasing the number of native language teachers. At the same time, it is necessary to focus on building a system of learning materials and textbooks; increase the application of technology platforms, artificial intelligence, etc.
